Unblocked the Amazon Pay general availability launch in two days

The wallet's general availability was blocked because its orders were not recognized as a valid payment instrument; I was called in, found the root cause in two days and agreed a fix at the source with the payments team.

to root cause and fix

What would have happened

The launch slips, or a patch in our fraud service hides a data problem upstream.

The call

Fix the mapping where the data starts, with no code change in our service.

What I did

Traced retail and digital wallet orders, showed the payment type was being sent wrongly, and worked the fix through with the payments engineers until the logs confirmed it.

What changed

The fix was confirmed and cleared for production on 25 Jul 2017, and a senior engineering manager called the resolution 'simple and right'.

Proof

The original documents are held in my private record and can be shared on request.

What people said
