Moved to company-wide software excellence to lead technical debt reduction
In July 2019 I left the architect role on one product for the Software Center of Excellence, with a remit to help every business improve its software practices and to lead initiatives such as technical debt reduction.

The call
Trade a product architect role for one that reaches every business.
What I did
Took the competency specialist role for software excellence, announced to the whole campus, and started working with teams across businesses.
What changed
It started the programs I went on to lead: duplication detection, code-craft assessments, the bar-raiser program and outreach across 100+ teams.
